​​​​Dr. Drew Mason, D.V.M.

Dr. Mason is a 2014 graduate of Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He is originally from Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he attended Colorado State University for his undergraduate degree. Growing up, Dr. Mason would often visit Cincinnati during the summer to spend time with family. Upon graduation, he decided he wanted to practice small animal medicine in the Cincinnati area, and we are thrilled to have him at Mason Family Pet Hospital.

Dr. Mason has a sheltie mix named Keystone, whom he adopted from a rescue while attending school at Kansas State.  He was recently married so this brought the addition of Charlie, a pomeranian mix to the family.  During his free time he loves going to Reds games, local festivals, trying new restaurants (Eli’s BBQ is among his favorites), skiing and watching college sports. Dr. Mason’s favorite interests in veterinary medicine include soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, preventative medicine and dermatology.
​​​​​Dr. Ruthann F. Carr, D.V.M.

Dr. Ruthann Fox Carr is a native of Mason, Ohio. After 13 years’ experience at a busy Cincinnati practice, she returned to her hometown to open Mason Family Pet Hospital in 2003. She received her D.V.M. degree in 1989 from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, and holds a bachelor's degree from Miami University.

Dr. Carr grew up on Fox Run Farm in Mason, where her family had cattle, ponies, dogs, and cats. Her father, Thomas E. Fox, M.D., was a popular family physician who served the community for over 35 years. These two influences stimulated her desire to become a veterinarian from a very early age. Her favorite areas of veterinary medicine include soft tissue surgery, ophthalmology, complicated internal medicine cases, and behavioral problem solving.

In her free time, Dr. Carr is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Mason.  She serves on the school board at Mt. Notre Dame High School and on the board of the Mason Scholarship Foundation. She enjoys traveling, hiking, cooking, and spending time with her husband, two college-aged children, two dogs, and two cats.

Katie Heath, RVT
Veterinary Technician

Katie is a recent 2019 graduate of Sinclair Community College . Katie started with our office in July, 2018 as a Vet Tech student. In July we welcomed Katie on staff as Vet Technician. She has a caring heart and a love for animals. We are thrilled to have Katie on staff!

Dr. Kathleen Mohlman, D.V.M. 


Dr. Mohlman is a 2003 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine who came to us with over 13 years of experience with both small and large animals at hospitals in Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Cincinnati. Dr. Mohlman grew up in Beavercreek, a suburb of Dayton, where she was involved in 4H, visited her grandparents' farm often, and worked for a local veterinarian starting in the first grade! In her spare time, she enjoys running half marathons, hiking, camping, and travelling.  She shares her home with Jackson, the standard poodle, and Declan, the rambunctious Irish Water Spaniel. She and Declan compete in obedience and agility training. 
Mindy Wise
Veterinary Assistant

Mindy moved to Lebanon after leaving Kansas.  Before leaving KS she was a pet sitter, walker and boarder which helped her realize how much she loved working with animals. Mindy and husband built a house in Lebanon where they live with their two sons, and two very spoiled little dogs. When Mindy is not working she is spending time at soccer games, family walks and hikes.

Alexa Coats, RVT

Veterinary Technician

Alexa is a 2013 graduate of The Ohio State University and has recently moved to the area after living in Michigan for the past 5 years. She is very excited to be back in Buckeye territory! Her previous experience has been in surgery and emergency medicine. She enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending time with her husband Lee and Goldendoodle, Scarlet

Dottie is a familiar face and voice at Mason Family Pet Hospital having joined us as a full-time receptionist in 2005. After many years in the child care field, she decided to put her love of animals to work. Dottie’s family includes her husband, two grown children, one granddaughter, multiple dogs, cats, and rabbits. In her spare time, she enjoys bowling, yard work, and spending time with her granddaughter. Her dream is to move to the country where she can own more land and, of course, acquire more pets!

joined our staff in 2015. She is a huge animal-lover with three dogs, two rabbits, a cat and two horses! Shelley lives in Sharonville with her husband, who is a farrier, along with their three children. Animals have been a big part of her life, and she studied animal science at Miami University.​ 
Dr. Sarah Sunday, D.V.M.


Dr. Sarah Sunday graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2016 after completing her clinical rotations at Oklahoma State University.  Dr. Sarah’s Veterinary interests include internal medicine, exotic medicine, and soft tissue surgery.  Outside of work she enjoys traveling, movies, and spending time with her husband Chris and menagerie of animals.  Dr. Sarah is very excited to join Mason Family Pet Hospital and serve her new community.  She recently moved to Maineville where she and her husband share their home with three dogs, three cats, two snakes, and a rabbit.

Dr. Carly DeVore, D.V.M.


Dr. DeVore is a 2020 graduate of Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. She has a special interest in feline medicine and exotics. Dr. DeVore completed her ungraduate degree in biology at the University of Cincinnati. She grew up just down the street in Mason, and is excited to be working in the hospital where she was once a client.

Natalie Johnson


Natalie started with MFPH in October 2018 as a Vet Assistant. After a few months, she decided that working at the front desk was where she felt she belonged. Natalie lives with her parents and a small zoo in Maineville.  Natalie is currently a student at UC for medical coding and billing. She is sure to put a smile on your face with her quick humor and smiling face. 
Emily McClanahan, RVT
Veterinary Technician

Emily is a recent 2018 graduate of Brown Mackie College and comes to us all the way from West Union, Ohio.  She was an extern at our hospital and was such a great fit for our staff that she's worked for us ever since. She has exceptional skills for a new grad and a bubbly, caring personality. She is a lover of all animals and gives special attention to our rabbit and feline patients.

Marie lives in Kettering with her boyfriend and 2 cats. She is a 2018 biology graduate from Wright State. She is currently in the process of applying for Veterinary School.

Ellen came to us with many years
of experience as a veterinary technician, and was previously the senior technician at Beechmont Pet Hospital, Dr. Carr’s former practice. We are thrilled that she moved to West Chester in 2006. After taking a short break to stay home with her two young sons and subsequently a daughter, she has continued to work part-time for us at Mason Family Pet Hospital. We welcome her talent as a technician along with her great sense of humor.


Ashley Kawalek
Veterinary Assistant

Ashley  moved to West Chester in 2017 to be closer to family but is originally from Albany, Georgia as you may notice by her accent and polite demeanor.  She is truly genuine lover of all pets and people and has a dog, cat and hamster in her family.  Ashley is attending Penn Foster to gain her Vet Tech license. 

Dr. Ryan Beltz, D.V.M. 

Dr. Ryan Beltz grew up in Wapakoneta, Ohio and later attended the University of Cincinnati where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering. After deciding on a career change, he received his DVM from The Ohio State University in 2016. His veterinary interests include dermatology, internal medicine and general surgery. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time outdoors, fishing and exercising. He and his wife share their Liberty Township home with their Labrador Retriever, Layla, and will soon welcome their second child. 

Jeremy O'Brien
Hospital Manager

Jeremy is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati and is a tenured people leader and business manager. Jeremy and his wife Shay are involved in animal welfare and both volunteer at local animal shelters and at the My Furry Valentine event held annually in Cincinnati, OH. Jeremy and his wife share their home with six dogs, three cats, and a tank of freshwater fish.

Terri has been a long time client of MFPH. She has grown up in the Mason area and is a familiar face to many of our local clients. She's got a great sense of humor and boundless energy which makes her the perfect fit for our busy hospital.  
Peyton Nixon
Veterinary Technician

Peyton earned her associates degree in veterinary technology from Brown Mackie College in 2016 and has been working for us since then.  She is a graduate of Lakota West and is mom to a young daughter.  She recently adopted a Jack Russell mix named Petrie. Her sense of humor and big heart towards all pets and their owners makes her a great addition to our staff.

Veterinary Technician

Clair came to us with several years experience as a technician at another hospital.  She has her  Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology degree from the Bradford Schools Vet Tech Institute.  She has fantastic skills as a technician to be sure your pet gets the very best care.  She went to Lakota West High School and she and her husband recently added a baby girl to their family.  She is an avid softball player in her spare time.

Jessie graduated from The University of Cincinnati with her associates degree in veterinary technology in 2016.  She did a preceptorship with our hospital and we were so impressed with her work ethic and truly caring nature that we added her to our team upon graduation. Jessie grew up in Lebanon and has 3 dogs, including a very sweet but completely blind beagle.
